It is SOOOOOO hard for me to believe that Lukas is 2 years old already!!
He has brought JOY to our lives that is beyond explanation. He constantly amazes us with all he is learning and doing!! I should document all he has accomplished already but first I will tell you about his big day!
Lukas wanted to make sure that some of his friends were well rested for the celebration so he put them all down for a little nap!!
He kept saying "luv dem all so much!" and he laid down with them for a couple seconds!!
Then it was time to get dressed and check out all the decorations.
It was a Thomas themed birthday so he wanted to show aunt Yaya some of the cool "boingy" trains around the kitchen! And he wanted to give them a little tug and watch them go boyyoyoyogg...!! Of course, you have to be careful about how hard you pull!! When you do tug a little to hard and rip them you must give them a kiss so they "feel better."
And a little ice for the "owie " never hurts either. A little back story here...months ago he and Amy went to the Air Zoo and when they were leaving he was looking at the flag outside and leaned over and touched a uncovered light shining on it! He burned his palm really good, and Amy had to run out to track down some ice since the zoo was closed and she could not get back in. They drove thru a Mickey D's and they handed her a cup of ice. He ended up at the docs, and all is well but he sure remembers it! So of course when James got an owie he got him some pretend ice!! Such a caring little man!
After everyone arrived a decision was made to let him open gifts first. Hard to have a table full of wrapped things and not be able to touch!
Great grandpa and grandma Ward sent a box from Nevada and amazingly it arrived about a hour before gift opening....good timing!
New warm jammies, and some cash!!!
Thomas, Chuggington, and Cars toys were the order of the day!
Another new friend to play with too!!
Aunt Yaya ...who lately has become just Ya!!....he has taken to shortening the names he calls people or things. For instance..Naughty Diesel is now dees, Spencer is now Spenc.... heheh he is a silly boy! Sorry I digress, he got to open his gift from Ya next! First thing Jesse said was " way to take the price tag off Sar" To which she responded, " I looked all over that thing and there was NO price tag on it!"
UMMMMMMMM......OK!!! :) :)
If there is one thing that Lukas REALLY still loves it's his tags!!.... He LOVES them..... A VERY nice lady, Ruth, at his mommy's work made them for him! She made him a new one with dino's on it for his birthday! He liked it right away!
Next it was time for his gift from mommy and daddy! As you can see in the background NO ONE was documenting this day!! hahaha!
What little boy wouldn't like a Buzz Lightyear bike for there b-day? Later in the day daddy lowered the seat and he figured out how to pedal it around in the kitchen. Amazing....he got it moving and he would occasionally head in and climb up on it! Looks like we will be racing boats and bikes this summer!!
After all was opened it was time for assembly....here the ladies work on the Chuggington....
......while Lukas and gpa worked on Thomas related items. Does anyone else see something cute in this pic?????
Please note the way both he and Dave are crouching while working!!!!
Now it was time for the BIG moment!! Waiting for the CAKE!!!
Here mom let me help you with that!!!
WOW it has Thomas on it!!!
He did a great job blowing out his candle!!
He toyed with digging into the cake like he did last year....but soon looked up and said " Lukie needs a spoon!! So we gave him one!
He still made sure to get as much as he could into his mouth! Get it in there!! YUMMOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Now it was time to play with all the fun toys he got!! It really surprised me that he watched gpa run his Mator race set a couple of times......
.....figured out how to pull back the lever, load it....
....and let her rip.....wow!!
Had to throw this in....Aunt Yaya playing Sir Top em hat!!
Noni wanted a pic in his birthday crown... and he wanted a pic of Nons....! :) :)
Dave brought his new trapeze harness down to show it to Jesse and while they were playing around with it Lukas wanted to try it on!! Once he had it on Jesse told him to hang on the the bar, and started to swing him....OMG he thought it was AWESOME!!! Then it was gpas turn!!
WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!
He thought it was way cool.....I think he could have done this for hours, if someones arms could have held out!!!
A GREAT time was had by all! I am sure Lukas thanks everyone for helping him celebrate his birthday. And a HUGE thank you for all the awesome gifts!
At 2 years old he is sleeping in a big boy bed, and sleeping through the night without getting out! He is potty trained, for the most part, even calling out at night or when he first wakes up to go. Says his ABC's pretty well, counts when he wants to!! The other day while playing with his tools he was going to put a screw into his work bench..he started the work, stopped said "nope" and changed from the drill bit to the screwdriver head.
He is talking in 4 and 5 words sentences a lot of the time, oh, and is more than capable of loading the dvd player on his own if he wants to watch some THOMAS!!!
He is so kind and is happy to give out big squeezes, and kisses. Warms my heart when he says" Luv you gma" and mushes my face! or when he kisses gpa's face and then rubs it and says.." needs a trim" :)
Dave and I are constantly amazed by all he is doing, and we feel so very grateful that we get to be a part of his life!!
We treasure all the time we get to spend with him!!
And with that ....it was time to put on those new jams and get some rest!!!
Bye for now!!
