Dave has been wanting some more storage and a place where he could set up a shop. We went round and round on where to build it. We finally picked a spot ( may have been the wrong decision in the long run but hey what can ya do). So, this is how it began. Lukas was thrilled to watch all the diggers and workmen!
The mess only got bigger and bigger! I will say that they were really good about minimizing the mess and cleaned up as much as possible every night!
Haven enjoyed watching with gpa!! This was as close to hearing protection as we could get! LOL look how little she is and the clothes they are wearing if you want to know when this started!!
Everyday the piles of dirt and the machinery grew and grew!!
Finally the footings were poured....then we ran into an issue with codes and connections.
First things first they poured the walls.....
Lukas and aunt Ya worked the construction zone.
Of course it would have to rain and rain while we had all the wonderful clay soil was everywhere. Dave has always been good at constructing tarpworld. Good thing he had all that practice while we tent camped!! :) We knew they would never be able to finish the cement work if that hole filled with water so there were a few nights where we bucket drained the tarps!! GRRRRrrr....
But, finally we were able to work out the house, garage connection questions and we were approved to move on to the next step. Which meant they had to dig some more and and come back for more pouring!
Then of course the wind picked up just as the cement was being poured and every helicopter in the maple trees decided to rain down! Here is the cement guy (Chris) trying to keep it smooth!
Come on you knew Dave would do the same!! :)
Finally on to the next step....construction!!!!
They were making quick progress. We lucked out and the rain stopped!
Almost there! They were able to reuse some of the old siding on the front of the garage. We were done with this part within the week!!! YEA!!!
Then just when we were settling in and enjoying the new addition....the power company had to come and move the utilities. This was a bit of a miss understanding and made for a HUGE mess and maybe a few words between the homeowners...;) ;)
Again Lukas and gpa were available to direct the action!! Actually I think it was killing Dave. He is not much for being around when things are getting dug up and destroyed!!
Yup, they did all this to move a couple of lines that were under the last 3 feet on the corner of the new garage......again can I say that I was beyond calm and NEVER raised my voice to anyone!!! :)
It was around this time that Dave took to the new work shop to construct something?!?! I think he said something about, He would be ready the next time I B&^#%ed about his new garage. Hmmmm does that resemble a coffin? :)
( actually it is a new sail box for the trailer!! ) WHEW!!
Seriously, ever since we started this we have been finding the weirdest bugs around here. This is just one of them. It is called a dobson fly....and yes Matt I know that is a nickle!!
We are not done yet!! This week we get the electrician to connect the power. Our yard and the retaining walls now need to be replaced, so we will add some parking at the same time! Might as well!!
At this point I have not forced Dave to move into the new garage........we shall see how this all plays out!!! hehehe
