Owls 2011

I thought it was about time to start updating you on the owl activity. As you all know we were concerned that we would not have them around this year...........but we were wrong!!! :)

If we are on the same schedule as on the years past we have owlets growing in the nest box!!

This is a picture I took through the kitchen window yesterday. At this point the owlets are moving around in the box and it is fun to see when Hootie flies back to the box she will pause either on a branch, but more often the perch before stepping in!!

Easter Sunday we were treated to a appearance and vocal show by both Hootie and Blowfish2....I am still calling him 2 because he is much more skiddish than in past years. Where before they would both sit and stare us down, now he flies away whenever we move closer!!

Last night while Dave was out diligently working on his boat(stay tuned for a boat update soon!!) the owls met up for a little dinner date in the tree just over the basketball hoop. They had a little chat, shared a little kiss and off he went. She stuck around for a few more minutes before she headed back to a tree farther into the woods where he was waiting!

By the way they are behaving and having watched them from both inside and out of the nest box for almost 6 yrs now we can assume we have owlets. In the past we have 2 one year and then the next it has been 3 so I am going to ask that you start sending your name ideas now!!
We should start seeing them more often now, as the owlets grow she will spend more time out of the box, but still close by to keep watch.
I can tell you that next spring we will once again have a up and running box camera as I ham having a REALLY hard time not knowing what is happening in there!!!:)

Easter 2011

Bet you were all waiting to see if I was EVER going to post a blog about Easter!! Well, it was not for lack of trying!! I was having some issues loading pictures. So, finally I just decided to load them one at a time a see how many I could get on here...Not like I ever have too few pics...:)

Dave and Sarah took a few minutes to chat, before they helped the Easter Bunny hide some eggs!

If you know Dave you know he has a few QUIRKS!!!! One of those is his FERNS......So for about the 10TH time he pointed out the correct paths for the hiding of the eggs!!! :) :)

When he couldn't take it any longer he went into the woods to help!!

Then the moment of the day...the arrival of this sweet boy!! You have to love a boy in cute Easter duds!!

The bunny actually had some stick-up eggs and he utilized some of the vehicles for the eggs.

Before he spotted the ones on the mini he found a couple on gpa's truck bumper!
When he tried to pull them off the suction cup released and he fell on his bummmmm!!!

Good thing aunt Yaya was close so she could help and stop him from going down!!

Gpa....he is a good egg.....:) hehe..... I kill me!!

Lending a helping hand!!

There were plenty of eyes in those woods to help spot the eggs!

And plenty of hands to help carry them too.....As you can see Amy and baby girl Ward are doing well!!

Eggs hide in all kinds of places in the woods!!

A few eggs may have gotten opened to check out the contents!!!

Even the most patient of egg hunters have to have a snack!!!

Hey, what's in there???

I gotcha aunt Ya!!!

Gpa look at what I got!!

The butterfly net made a really good collection basket!!

Any self respecting Easter Bunny would not just leave eggs in the woods!!

Here gpa is helping Lukas with some of his other finds!!

I soooo LOVE this pic!

He got a butterfly net, a bug cage, some lizards and frogs, and a magnifying glass......I think he liked them!!

Sorting out all the new stuff!!

Lukas loves learning things from and with gpa!

Ummmm....there are never enough words to explain my special boy! :)!

Like father like son!!!!

When all was said and done we had a great day. The weather turned out to be one of the nicer days we have had this spring. We all had a great time hunting eggs and watching Lukas running in the woods
Short and sweet...glad I got this done before I got disconnected.

Once again......getting to spend time with family is the BEST!!

My friend the T-rex!!

Hello All,

I have a new friend! He is big and although when you first see him you may think he is mean and scary, let me assure you HE IS NOT!! He is a little more difficult to cuddle than his soft stuffed friends, but still a awesome, so don't judge!!!

Since he is new, I had to show him around gma's house! So we took a walk!

I showed him the crocus that had bloomed! He thought they were really pretty!

He really liked the big pile of Jobie logs along the driveway!
Then we walked down by the creek. We found a whole bunch of snake grass and we pulled it apart and threw the pieces into the water!!

Then I wanted to show him the water a little closer. He was a little clumsy in all the leaves and sticks so I carried him, I am such a nice guy!!

I was showing him how you can take a stick and hit the water and make it splash,(I especially like this when gma gets wet!:)

He was a little thirsty so I gave him a hand!

He wanted to cool off his feet, and take a walk in the water....he did very well!

Hey, what is this picture all about.....I think gma was trying to catch me with a plumbers crack!!! hehe OH, gma you are soooooo funny!

I love sitting in the mud and picking up stones and throwing them in the water!!

Here I am showing off my imitation of T-rex roaring.......

I hope mommy isn't reading this because I keep getting closer and closer to the water and the MUD!

It is a REALLY a good thing she packed those old jeans of mine in my bag for gma's house!

Well, if mommy is reading I am pretty sure that after the last few pictures she already knew this was coming!!! At least the water wasn't too deep, and I had a really fun time!!

T-rex really had a great time playing in the woods, but he got a little tired so we went up onto the deck to rest and hang out for a bit!

Surprise, surprise...gma put me right to work cleaning up!

I started with cleaning the table off.

Then I wanted to make sure my chair was clean....even if my pants weren't...I didn't want to sit in a DIRTY chair.....

The sun sort of came and went and I couldn't decide if I needed to wear them or not!

What????....this isn't where you wear you sunglasses???

After all the exploring and cleaning it was time for a much needed rest and snack!

I know....I don't even get to finish my snack and drink....and it's back to work for me!!!

Thank goodness gpa came home and saved me from all the work!! I took him out to the woods to show him some of the things I had found earlier!!

Gpa was showing me all his cool ferns and telling me not to step on them!

I love hanging out with gpa, and it is especially fun to ride up on his shoulders.

I always have a good time at gma and gpa's and I think T-rex liked it too!!
