We had another snowfall last night and once again the ground is covered in white. Sarah came over for a visit and we went looking for the owls. Hootie has been sitting quite regularly in the tree across the driveway from the nest box. I assume because it is close to mating time and she is making sure the box remains available. Here is Sarah checking her out.She used to sit in another tree , next to the one she is frequenting this year and she was a little easier to see. Even with the white snow on the branches she blended into the trunk if the tree.
Even though Sarah and I were standing right under her and ,we were not being quiet ,she stayed right there . She even took a little snooze. A couple of times she would look down on us and occasionally she glanced up but, for the most part she ignored us.
Dave checked the connections to the video camera in the box and we were hopeful that would fix the problem. Alas, that was not the case. We are assuming the problem is at the box. Dave is afraid that when we were cleaning the box out in the fall we may have pinched, or pulled a wire. I am not sure with how close she is watching the box that he will want to climb up there. We shall see what we can do. I know I will be disappointed if I can't count the eggs this year. Keep your fingers crossed!!
