More on the Owls

Sunday afternoon was sunny and close to WARM...we are getting there weather wise around here...that is till Wed. when is is going down to the 30"s again.....but I digress!!

Owls...

Here is Hootie hanging out just behind the house. These were all taken through the living or dining room windows.

I noticed that after a few minutes she was flying from one tree to another. Unusual behavior as she will sit for a long time! Then we noticed that she was hunting! We watched for about 20 minutes and it was so interesting. I will say I did not feel bad for the squirrel, but did wonder what was going through his minds as he was stalked the whole time!!

Success!!!

At this point we were not sure if it was for sure Hootie or Blowfish. It sat in the tree for a few minutes making sure it had a good grip on it!

Remember these are still taken through the window!!

It wasn't till HOOTIE flew back and into the nestbox that we knew it was her! Once she is in the box Blowfish will bring her food but, will not go into the box!!

It was really interesting to watch. We have watched them hunting before but this is the first time she has had to chase down the meal...it has always been one swoop and it was over......and you may find this morbid but I was SOOOOOO mad that that camera in the box was not working because it would have been soooo AWESOME to watch her feed the owlets!!

DARN IT!!
