Sailing...ahhhh

In order to really do justice to a blog about sailing...I really should start last year when Dave purchased this boat, BUT!!!! I would need to do a whole blog telling you ALL the work he had done to get it to this point! He still has some things to finish, like the paint job, but it was TIME to play not work for a bit!

So at this point it is primed and ready to go!!!

Loaded up the trailer and headed for the lake!

It is a really good thing this man is in such good shape...good thing he is still young and strong...why you ask...because this thing is a beast and I was NO HELP at all. He unloaded it all by his self!!

And then he got to put it together himself too!! Lucky man that he is!!

OK, at this point I was able to lend a little hand. We put it on the beach dollies he built and with all my strength I pushed it down the beach!

As you can see it is a BIG boat!!!

As you can see we had one of the few NICE weather days that we have had this spring!! Even though he is in great shape...there was NO way that the 2 of us could step this mast..:( So after much angst my Mr. McGuiver came up with a plan!!!

Sweet SUCCESS!!!

This may come as a surprise to you but while all this was going on we had another little helper! I know that I say it all the time but, Lukas was here with us and he tolerated almost 3 hours of us working on the boat. Sitting out of harms way when asked, picking up and handing g-pa things, and never once complained or got

whiny!!

He was quite a little helper!

He wanted to help pull G-pa's boat into the water!

And finally got to the end of the rope!!!

Then it was time to set the sail..............and trust me this was a GRUNT!!!!

And once again.......SUCCESS!!!

Jesse headed out to the lake after work and he and Dave shared the inaugural launch!! It should be noted that by this point of the day we were under a severe weather warning. The boys were watching the radar and since it showed a little break in the storm they headed out!!

Whoo Hoo.....SUCCESS!!

They got a little time on the water and keeping the eye on the sky headed in!!! It was a REALLY good thing they did. Sarah, Lukas and I were in the trailer getting supper together and I saw them out the window hauling the sails up the beach.......and THEN!! Holy cow we got SLAMMED!! The wind came up and the awning went for a ride....Jesse happened to get a hand on it just before it went over the roof! Sarah ran out and grabbed chairs and various other things that were blowing around and threw them into the back of Dave's truck. She tried to get a hand on the other side of the awning as I tried to reel it in! All the time we were HOLLERING for Dave to get over here. We saved the awning and then the guys RAN to the boats that were facing the WRONG direction and got to them just as Dave's boat was ready to FLY away....OK maybe not away, but OVER!! Also got to see them chasing a few boat parts that were sailing on there own!!!

Enough adventure for the day!!! And the following picture is only relevant because this is what was swimming near the shore!!!???!!!???

Lukas and Jesse spent the night and in the morning headed down to work on the boats.

Who know what the conversation was about or what plans they were coming up with!!

Lukas helping daddy with the boat!!

Or maybe just hammering the paddle!!

It takes a village....of men to plot the next move!

And while the big boys talked, someone got to work!!!:)

And after all the work on these boats the boys were sailing!!! I will say the new paint job on Jesse's boat sure looks nice!!

DAVE'S BOAT!!!

JESSE'S BOAT!!

I am so glad they got a chance to play! Jesse, Lukas and Sarah headed out. We will see the whole family next weekend....we missed Amy!!!

And when we woke up Saturday this is what we were faced with!!!

And when you are this dejected.....why not head home and pint the kitchen ceiling!!! HEHEH!!!

What a GUY!!
